Gods blessings

"Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
He will be like a bush in the wastelands;
he will not see prosperity when it comes.
He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.

He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:5 - 8

First Harvest

I probably shouldn't have called this our first harvest because we have eaten a few green onions. This feels like the first! Isaiah was so excited to pick something for the first time. He checks on all of the plants every day and is always telling me to come and see! He told me today that the garden is really fun!

Chet Akins: In honour of my dad, who played like him

Dad liked Willie Nelson when I couldn't understand why. Seeing two of his favorite musicians together made me feel close to him, with memories that I'd forgotton.

THE COWS
Yesterday Emma and I spent a long time watching the cows. They were up close to our fence and Emma was fascinated. I told her how they eat,drink,have their mommas milk, etc..
About an hour later Emma was nursing when she suddenly stopped and looked up at me and said "cow". That was a funny moment!

FISHING

We didn't catch anything this time. We ended up leaving after a group came and ran around in swim-suits,drinking beer and blasting loud music. Before that it was a perfect day and we still had a great time.

The Tornado

"I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest." Psalm 55:8 >>
Wednesday was a horrible day! Our town of Chapman was largely destroyed by a huge tornado,1/2 mile wide and reaching speeds of 140 MPH.
We were at home and never heard a siren. We heard the tornado,after our power was out. We tried to get to the only shelter in town but couldn't because the tornado had already tossed trees and overturned cars into the street and the road was completely blocked.
We tried a back road that our landlady sent us to, but the storm was so intense that we couldn't see more than a couple of feet in front of the car. Then our lights started blinking off and we couldn't see at all!We ended up in a ditch with mud up to my door! We walked 1 1/2 miles in deep mud and were picked up my a friend/neighbor. Thank goodness for cell phones!
Although it was a truly terrifying experience, we were very blessed. Our home is one of the ones still standing. We have a car. And the shelter that we were trying so hard to reach is where the tornado did the most damage!
I have struggled with fear some lately, but I am very VERY grateful!
