The Tornado
"I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest." Psalm 55:8 >>
Wednesday was a horrible day! Our town of Chapman was largely destroyed by a huge tornado,1/2 mile wide and reaching speeds of 140 MPH.
We were at home and never heard a siren. We heard the tornado, after our power was out. We tried to get to the only shelter in town but couldn't because the tornado had already tossed trees and overturned cars into the street and the road was completely blocked.
We tried a back road that our landlady sent us to, but the storm was so intense that we couldn't see more than a couple of feet in front of the car. Then our lights started blinking off and we couldn't see at all!We ended up in a ditch with mud up to my door! We walked 1 1/2 miles in deep mud and were picked up my a friend/neighbor. Thank goodness for cell phones!
Although it was a truly terrifying experience, we were very blessed. Our home is one of the ones still standing. We have a car. And the shelter that we were trying so hard to reach is where the tornado did the most damage!
I have struggled with fear some lately, but I am very VERY grateful!

Yuck! Hard to see 'home' look like this! Praising God it was not worse! Death toll could have been really bad.
Wow Tammie! We are praising God with you guys that you are safe and sound. I can't believe how bad it looks.
Praise God that you still have a home and car. God's grace is sufficient!!!!
